Glass roof replacement in Reigate

Mrs Danise from Reigate got in touch with us recently about the roof on her lean-to conservatory. While the rest of the conservatory was in good condition, the old glass roof was badly damaged and letting in a lot of water. This rendered the conservatory practically unusable, and Mrs Danise was looking for a much sturdier, longer-lasting roofing solution. We started by talking her through the various options for replacing the roof, including the most suitable materials for the job. We then agreed on a budget and timetable for the project.

A sturdy structure for the new roof

After carefully removing the damaged glass roof – which was many years old, in poor condition, and extremely fragile – we set about creating a solid structure for the new roof. As strength and durability were top of Mrs Danise’s list of requirements, we fitted new treated timber rafters and 18mm tongue and groove OSB3 boarding as the basis of the new roof. Guaranteed for a minimum of 10 years, OSB3 boarding offers a practical blend of cost effectiveness and a long lifespan, making it ideal for this project.

High-quality felt roofing system

After experiencing so many problems with her old glass roof, Mrs Danise wanted something different this time around. So, on top of the OSB3 boarding, we installed a high-performance, triple-layer Icopal bituminous felt roof system. Well known for its durability, this is one of the best felt roofs available on the market, making it ideal for this project.

The finishing touches

We finished off the new conservatory roof with uPVC fascias and soffits, and black half round guttering. Not only did this provide a neat finish, it also ensures better weather protection for the conservatory. Mrs Danise was thrilled with the results, and that the project was completed to the agreed schedule and budget. She is now looking forward to many years of a leak-free conservatory.
